Wife wants small portable stereo

Ok, For Christmas my wife wants a small portable stereo to take aound the house with her sans headphones. I have an iPod and thought about buying some speakers for it and she can hook into that. i went to the Apple store and thougth that $149 is a bit much. Has anyone had any experience with other brands. Creative has some for the iPod. Any other suggestions?

The iPod cradle has a mini-stereo jack... so anything with an amp, even a mini-system with a line in can hook into it. That leaves your choices, almost endless.

Try creative labs sound blaster speakers. I have these here. they're 30 dollers and they sound great.
