Her phone was working completely, then it stopped sending or receiving text messages so she said she "reset" it. We re-entered all of the parameters for the email account and now it won't connect to the pop server.

The iphone email setup is pretty complicated for the outgoing server but not much needs to be set for the incoming server, basically just server name, password and port. I'm wondering if there is some other setting that acts to turn on or off email connections.

Which e-mail provider does she use and which settings do you use ?

She finally got her nephew who works in the network industry to fix her email. Apparently when she initiated her account in the phone she either picket "imap" or didn't pick anything and it defaulted to "imap". I didn't know this and told her to put in our network settings for "pop.ourdomain.com", port 110, etc. The nephew spotted something that he thought was a mention of imap so he deleted that account and re-entered it, being careful to select "pop" at the appropriate time.
