Wife's phone rings MY iPad. Don't want that.

iOS 8.1.2, iPad 2 & 3

Since I upgraded my wife's iPhone 5 to iOS 8.1.1, when she gets a call, it shows up on my iPad (which I understand is one of the features, but I forgot the darn name of it. )

How can I keep that from happening? Can I turn it off on my iPad?

Yes. You can turn off call continuity by going into the following menu:

Settings > FaceTime > iPhone Cellular Calls - Toggle this off.

Give her an AppleID of her own.

This is the correct answer. With family share, you can share photos, apps, tunes and credit cards. No reason not to have a separate account for separation of everything else.
