Hi

does anyone know a wifi usb adapter (dongle) that works with El Capitan?
(not a temporary solution, installing other drivers)

thank you

I have been looking into this as I am having connection issues with a wifi router I was using as an ac wifi bridge. (Netgear R6250)

There is no wifi USB adapters that work under 10.11. Bear Extender has a USB 2/3 ac wireless adapter that they said would have beta drivers in December.

That leaves something like a wireless bridge. I have been scouring the Internet, almost all of them have both good and bad reviews. I would love just to purchase another AirPort Extreme, but there is no way to set it up in a join only mode (just extend, which halves the wifi speed). You can set an airport express up to join a network, but is is wifi N only.

Not sure what I am going to do myself...

I was using Huawei E3276 with Yosemite , Can't use it Anymore with el Capitan .
What I think is that , everything create previously in an OS should remain as it is ,
and when creating a new system , you should add functions , but leave the one
that already exist .

Doing my internet research, it appears that USB devices without native drivers/kext support must be approved/signed by apple now. This has made some of the previous USB devices not work under El Capitan. (I also own a logitech Harmony remote, I had to use parallels to update it because logitech is asleep at the switch for an update......)

Just wondering --

If you turn off System Integrity Protection, and then re-install the drivers -- do the devices work then....?

Bumping this -- has anyone got any news / gossip / workaround ideas?

So frustrated by this change. Haven't been so mad at Apple since the horrible incomplete Pages/Numbers release a few years ago.

Thank you,

JT

Any updates on this? I was planning to upgrade my mac mini to 10.11 soon and also purchase a USB 3 AC WiFi adapter. Any recommendations? I don't have to many problems with wifi, but sometimes when I have 4 airplay devices streaming music for several hours they will sometimes drop out. Was hoping a AC WiFi adapter might help some with this, as well as streaming 4K movies from plex down the road.

I used a Netgear R6250 in bridge mode (connected via ethernet to an iMac) to give me a AC wifi connection with my Time Capsule. I did have to manually set the time capsule to a specific frequency (rather than auto) as it was not connecting with the Netgear device otherwise (I have no clue why, a d-link DAP-1650 bridge I own also required setting a channel manually before it would see the time capsule during the setup wifi scan.)
