EDIT: The following dawned on me and answers my question: If Airplane mode is required on flights as a safety issue, Wifi Assist is not going to override its block of cellular connectivity. Airplane mode loses its purpose if it can be overridden by another feature.

I'm posting because I've seen more than one answer to this and want a definitive answer: Does WiFi Assist engage in Airplane Mode?

When I turn on Airplane Mode cellular data turns off but Wifi Assist doesn't. However, how would it engage if Airplane Mode shuts down any connection to cellular data?

Going overseas and want to use the Net, send imessages and maybe make some calls only using WiFi.

Thanks as always
