The Adirondacks.
New AW user. My understanding was that when my iPhone is off WiFi the devices conduct operations over BT, notifications, iMessage, phone calls etc.... I had an issue today adding my credit card to wallet on my AW. I was on LTE and received “must be connected to internet.” My phone was connected over LTE.

After joining my secure home network upon arriving home it allowed the card to be added to my AW.

So there are certain types of “secure” operations where both devices must be on the same secure network, or different secure networks? I assume this is due to BT’s general lack of security. Am I correct? :apple:

it might have been a temporary issue at the bank too, and the timing just worked out that way in your case.
or it could have be that even though the phone had signal, there wasn't much of a connection.

It's gotten better, but adding cards to the watch has occasionally taken me 2 or 3 times to get it.

I don't think your home "secure" network had anything to do with it.

The watch will use the lowest power radio it can to preserve battery.
from least to most, that's Bluetooth, wifi, then cellular (if available)

so If the phone is close and has signal, The watch will use bluetooth to connect via the phone. (wifi and cell will be powered down)
(I don't see my watch on my wifi network, until I put the phone In airplane mode, then the watch joins my wifi)

I see. Thank you for the explanation. :apple:

My bank won’t allow any transaction over public WiFi but LTE is fine. It could be the bank who issued credit card policy, to not allow adding credit card over LTE?
