Wifi calling & carrier updates on unlocked iphone?

Guys quick question

Lets say for instance you buy an unlocked verizon iphone 7 and use an att sim card in it, Will Att wifi calling work? also will it still get carrier updates from att?

The iphone will always say the original carrier under the settings->general->about tab, am i correct?

Yes to both wifi calling and carrier updates. The iPhone will show the carrier of the currently inserted sim card in the about page of settngs.

Both worked fine on my unlocked TMO iphone6 running on an AT&T SIM.

Wifi call quality generally is terrible, no matter the phone, device, or network. You're much better off using Facetime Audio (if both parties have an iPhone) or the cellular network/towers.

This is untrue... I use it at home, and it's on par with if not the same voice quality as VoLTE...

My experience with it has been great. You might want to investigate why your setup doesn't work when other people's does fine.
