Why does it still show the cellular reception strength? Every Android phone I have used with WiFi calling disables the cellular connection. iOS 8 does not. I ask because I am concerned with low signal and battery life. That's really my only gripe with it so far. Call quality is excellent.

iOS 8GM with iPhone 5S here.

you can always turn on airplane mode then toggle wifi on and it will connect to wifi calling

I can confirm turning airplane mode on, then turning wifi on does allow wifi calling to work. You can send text messages, but MMS does not work on wifi calling.

I've been in the jungle using tmobile wifi on the beta for the last week on wifi. It's been working perfect. Just upgraded to the GM (took two days to download the ipsw) and it's still working great without any cellular reaction over wifi.

I'm actually really impressed how well it works.

I see you already answered your own questions.

feel free to add more info to that post:

As I've stated many, many times on here, I am not the only person in my house that logs on with my user name on here.

It does, however, I have noticed it does turn wifi calling off sometimes when the device is idle, but it comes right back on. Call quality is excellent. Sending texts over wifi calling can be slow, but works. I have had a few texts fail to send.

How the hell did this entire community not know that, and remember it

How did SMS and MMS (e.g. group chat with android) work for you?

I agree that the signal dots are a bit redundant. I also feel that they could have come up with a more elegant solution to signify wifi calling...like the wifi logo with a phone next to or on top of it. "••••• T-Mobile Wi-Fi" on the status bar is unnecessarily long and eats up half the space.
