I tried erasing my iPad Pro M4 and setting it up again to see if that fixed https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...-from-y-prompts-for-every-copy-paste.2465942/ (it didn't).

After upgrading to iPadOS 26, Wifi calling on my iPad was working great with AT&T. After setting my iPad up again, I'm trying to enable Wifi calling and it keeps getting stuck "Waiting for Wi-Fi calling activation".

I've tried toggling the Calls from iPhone setting off and on (which doesn't remove the waiting for activate text). I've restarted. I've also toggled allowing calls from the iPad from the Calls from other devices setting on my iPhone. That made the Waiting for activation go away, but when I tried to enable WiFi calling again it just got stuck again. Basically activation is broken. Activation used to work fine in iPadOS 18.x.

At this point I can only make calls if on the same WiFi network as my iPhone where as before it didn't use my iPhone. It used WiFi.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get this to work?

I’m not entirely sure how, but I managed to get WiFi calling activated. Here’s what I did.

1. I had an old iPad Pro 2018 that I had upgraded to iPadOS 26 so I figured I’d try and enable WiFi calling on it after signing into my iCloud account. That actually worked which meant activation worked in iPadOS 26.
2. On my M4 iPad, I turned off syncing FaceTime in the iCloud settings.
3. I then turned off calls from iPhone and turned off FaceTime.
4. I then disabled calls on that iPad from my iPhone’s calls on other devices setting.
5. I turned FaceTime back on and then re-enabled calls from that iPad., I think in that order.
6. Calls from iPhone enabled and the enable WiFi calling button was there so I just spammed it.
7. Despite having done steps 3 through 6 before, this time it worked. No idea why.
8. I then re-enabled FaceTime in the iCloud settings.

I wouldn’t recommend turning WiFi calling off if you can help it as it’s a pain to get-re-enabled.
