I have a Macbook Pro 15 inch mid 2014 and recently, completely out of the blue, I noticed my internet drastically fluctuating up and down in speed between about 20 mbps and like, totally unusable 0.1 mbps or something. Used to be 50 mbps consistently. Nope not downloading anything, all other browsers do the same thing, all other devices in the house are fine. My modem is an EE smart hub that is now 5GHz (still had the same problem before it was 5GHz).

Here's what I then noticed as well though. When the speed is really slow e.g when watching youtube or whatever, the video doesn't only stop to buffer. It slooowws down like slow mo with crackling sounds sometimes. My mouse moves really slowly and weirdly too and clicking on stuff gives me the rainbow beachball thing. Sounds like a CPU problem or something right? Like overheating maybe? But the fan doesn't speed up or anything and why would my connection be affected the hardest, Spotify included, says offline mode half the time, barely usable. Oh but Netfilx, is totally fine... hardly a problem with that website 🤔. Games run alright, same as always, not online though.

I've tried antivirusing with help from a friend, much much more tech savvy then I. Not the problem. I cleared a bunch of junk off my hard drive, I now have more space than I ever did. Hasn't helped though.

Here are some specs (let me know if sufficient)

I know I'm clearly a noob with all this but please help if possible. I don't wanna have to buy another laptop. Thanks
