Thinking about a two week trip to Ireland I'm looking for a cellular hotspot solution.

I've looked at some rental scenarios but think it would actually be a bit cheaper to buy an inexpensive hotspot and get a SIM card for it.

I have a spare iPhone 6 but I'm not sure if tethering would work with any of the SIMs from providers there. Perhaps four devices connected at once.

Anyone here have some experience or advice on what to get or which companies to avoid?

Thank you in advance.

Just to report…I was able to get an unlimited data SIM card from Lycamoble.ie for only 10 Euro and use my iPhone 6 as a hotspot. I had to add some settings to Settings>Cellular>Cellular Data to get the hotspot working.

I found using the iPhone hotspot on other iPhones annoying. The hotspot did not always show up under Settings>Wi-Fi. Also, no combination of settings on both ends could get a connected iPhone to stay connected. The connection would drop after a very short period of inactivity…and setting the iPhones to auto-join the hotspot just didn't work.

My advice to others would be to get a cheap cellular to WiFi hotspot…assuming that would work with the SIM I got. The Lycamobile SIM was a great deal.
