Hey all,
I've searched the site for this one and have been unable to find my answer.
I have a mid 2009 macbook pro (aluminum). I am having wifi issues. I have a small house and am using a Netgear AC1900 Nighthawk router. My signal strength shows all 4 bars throughout my house, however, my connection goes in and out when in my bedroom, even with the 4 bars showing. As soon as I take my mac into the living room, there is no issue. I also use my iPhone 6 to stream Pandora in my bedroom using my wifi with no issues. So, am thinking that despite the 4 bars, the issue is wifi receptivity on my mac.
Am thinking a plug in antenna for my mac might do the trick (vs a booster, which I don't really think I want because of the speed loss?). I also seem to have the same issue with my Roku (signal comes and goes), so I am guessing that the issues are positional/interference. Even though my house is small, the router is in my laundry room and there are 4 walls between it and my bedroom, though distance is no more than 30 feet. Another thought was an antenna booster that connects to my router (looks essentially like an antenna with a wire to me).
Would appreciate thoughts and input on USB antennas or direct connect router extenders that might correct the problem... or if I am missing something? I think I have properly reduced the problem down to wifi receptivity/signal strength in my bedroom, though I am curious why I show 4 bars if that is the case?
