Mountain Lion / OSX Networking Question:

On my laptop, at home I have a cable modem/ router so I use DHCP with a manual address via WiFi.

When I want to use my iPhone as a hotspot and connect via WiFi, I need to set it to simply DHCP via WiFi.

I have created separate "Locations" in System Preferences > Network for each.

However, I assumed that when you toggled locations, it would also change the Network Name for each location you pre-saved as well. Incorrect?
(Highlighted in Yellow in the screencap above)

When I change the location, it will still keep the same WiFi Network, and attempt to login with it. So it obviously doesn't work, and I have to change the Location AND the network name in order to connect.

Is this a Mountain Lion bug, or is this what everyone else has to do as well?

No matter what I do, it won't pre-save the Network Name and associate it with the Location. If I change it, then click Apply, then create even another new location, the Network Name always defaults to the last WiFi network.

I really just want to change the location from the pull-down and be done with it. I thought that's how it would work.

Any ideas? Thanks.
