WIFI: Looking for networks

I just noticed that my early 2013 rMBP (updated to Mavericks) seems to drop the wifi connection exactly once every 5 seconds and then it connects back.

I don't get a disconnect warning but i notice that the net is frozen for a few seconds and hoovering the WiFi Icon shows the message:

WiFi: Looking for networks

It does that on any connection, not just at my home.

How can I check its not something software before taking it for service ?
