I got my iPhone 3g in October of 2008. It has worked perfectly since then and been in a case since day 1. Recently, after upgrading to 2.2.1 on iTunes, my wi-fi has stopped working. I have a wireless network set up in my home from my desktop that my laptop and my iPhone can connect to and my laptop still connects fine. My iPhone won't even acknowledge the network. After searching for information on this topic, apparently it's a pretty common problem. I called Apple Tech Support and they walked me through the various "fixes", including a total restore, which didn't work. He said the next thing they do is to fix or replace the phone. They've placed a $399 hold on my credit card while they ship the new one out until they've received me phone and attempt to fix it.

A couple months ago, I bought my husband an iPod and when he opened it, it didn't work. It was stuck at the language selection screen, and so when I sent it back to get fixed, they sent it right back to me saying they would not fix it because it had been water damaged. Seeing as it came right out of the box, that was impossible, but they claimed it anyways. Apparently, alot of people who have had to send their Apple poducts for repair get the same answer.

Has anyone had this problem? Is there a way I can check for water damage to prove that none exists? Having the wi-fi of all things suddenly stop seems to be a common thing nowadays, and the phone works fine other than that. I'm just worried I'll be SOL with a "water damaged" iPhone that's not even water damaged.
