Wifi shows networks but always says "connection failed"

So my wifi was working then suddenly it disconnected from the network. i go to reconnect and i have to renter the password it already knows. it tries to connect then always gives me the message "connection failed".



i did all the ususal things

-restart

reset pram and the SMC

-deleted it as a remembered network and "deleted" my wifi in settings then recreated it.
-restarted and held command R and booted into that and it still couldnt connect to the internet wifi in that mode.

im on a 2013 and dont have an adapter so i cant plug it into the ethernet.

it shows the network obviously. also it no longer can use my phone as a hot spot.



the weird thing is i am currently typing this from my dual boot in windows 10, which connects to the internet fine.



i havent done any recent changes or downloads so im unsure what has caused this. i did have system files integrity security disabled for abit but that was only to change certain icons. and i didnt do any within the time it stopped working.



worried ill have to reinstall catalina and move over all my crap

Have you restarted your router? They can be finicky that way, even if they still work for other machines.

I did and it works. Lol I feel so dumb it was just weird how it was only effecting one machine and it’s a brand new isp brand provided router.

I was feeding up tocreate a Catalina boot USB lol
