An intriguing wifi mystery that I'm curious if anyone has thoughts on:

The problem has occurred on both my personal and work MBPs.

I have both my home and work wifi networks saved. When I move from home to work, the wifi will stop working. It will connect to my work network, authenticate, show a connected IP address and EAP connection, but there is not actually an internet connection.

Further, connecting from that point forward to any other network will not work, whether it be the hotspot on my phone or a public network elsewhere.

I’ve tried: editing the network Location options, turning turning other connections off (e.g., Bluetooth), renewing the DHCP, forgetting all but the network that I’m trying to connect to from the list, and turning the wifi on and off several times.

A restart will immediately fix the problem, until the next time that I connect to another network and switch back. It seems nothing short of this will fix it, and this is annoying to do so frequently. Any thoughts?
