My late 2008 Macbook Unibody is seriously troubled at the moment. Among the issues is its refusal to boot normally. As soon as the grey Apple screen turns up, the spinning (loading) wheel either doesn't appear at all or gets stuck. Several hard resets are required to make it eventually boot normally.

Even more bothersome is the fact that WiFi has become totally chaotic. The menu bar shows that WiFi is connected to the network while system preferences shows WiFi as being off. It can't be turned on or off manually, cause doing so makes it stuck in 'off' permanently. For the sake of clarity, WiFi does not work, regardless of it showing to be connected in the menu bar.

To tackle this, I must either reboot the system or delete WiFi from services, add it again and reboot. I've been trying to find a solution for days, but without luck. I can't do a clean install at the moment because of time constraints and hence, I really hope somebody can provide me magic answer to this issue.
