WiFi - Text Messaging

Going to Europe for 10 days - and will only have WiFi service on iphone 4s (carrier is Verizon Wireless). I was looking for a third party application where I can use text messaging to those back in the U.S. I can not use imessaging for those who do not have an iphone.

I really don't wish to use or get a Google Voice number to accomplish this.

Looking for suggestions. Again, will have WiFi service - looking to text without using 3G.

You should look into Textfree and Textplus, these apps give you an actual number and are compatible with many countries. They have been reliable for me, for the most part.

I have been using textfree with voice also, works great. you can also receive phone calls/voicemail w/ wifi
