Wifi to 3G to 1x

Running on 7.1 on a 5s

When i turn wifi on and turn it off, it goes directly to 3g and then down to 1x speeds and stays there. I have to toggle airplane mode to get Lte to work. Anyone hAving similar issues?
 
Odd. But if it works with WiFi being on, you can just leave it on, right?
