Hey all: I'm using a MBP on 10.6.3.
Odd thing. I'm able to connect to Starbucks Att Wi-Fi with Airport but when i go to other cafes like Peets or Borders...i'm not able to connect. I can only go to Starbucks. Have any clues on this one? TQ.

The other networks are probably protected, or did you get any WEP, WPA or other key to get access to the internet?
Starbucks offer its WiFi free, therefore you can easily connect to it.

I used to be able to hook up to the other networks. Its free. I have no clue on this and was hoping that others might know a workaround from experience.
I didn't get any WEP/WPA info. I should have also said that when i turn Airport On, there is a connection detected with the WiFi icon, but when i open up either Safari or Firefox it just hangs. Not so with Starbucks/ATT again.

Maybe those other "open" networks (do they have a lock symbol beside their name in the AirPort drop-down menu?) have excluded your computer via MAC filtering.
Have you taken a look at System Preferences > Network > AirPort and seen what is reported there about the AirPort status?
