I'm at a local cafe - strong at&t signal and what looks like a strong wireless connection. But I can't get my email. I've tried sending myself emails from my aol, .mac and yahoo accounts but mail wouldn't deliver them. They went out but didn't come back. I tried turning the phone off, didn't help. I tried soft resetting, didn't help. I tested all the other features of the phone and they were working properly. I could browse the web fine. Then I noticed that my phone was getting warm towards the top and something made me think to turn off wifi. And that did the trick. I was finally able to get my emails, via the edge network. Why did I have to shut off the wifi? Is the cafe's signal needing to be reset? Could their wifi block email transfers but not webpages?

I've had a similar issue with my home wifi lately. I have to turn off wifi on the phone to get email or change the ip address.
