After having installed an Optibay, the wifi in my MacBook is no longer working. I've tried resetting the cable but while the bluetooth works, the wifi and iSight on the same cable do not. I use an ACD, so the camera isn't too important. For the wifi, it seems that there's not much I can do except replace more components (which frankly, I'd rather avoid doing) or get a USB wifi connector.

I've seen some usb wifi connectors sold online but they all seem to require apps from the manufacturer. I'd rather avoid such apps for convenience/reliability sake (for example a new OS could break compatibility). Is there therefore a plug-and-play USB wifi connector that would work without any third party apps and be integrated with the OS? I am using Mavericks.

Thanks
