Wifi?

S3 GPS/LTE. Should my watch be able to connect to my home WiFi without my phone, or has something changed? I have searched and tried all the fixes I could find, such as forgetting my 5ghz leaving 2.4ghz on the phone, rebooting phone and watch in certain order, re-pairing, etc. But when I disable Bluetooth and LTE on the phone I get the disconnected message on the watch. The WiFi icon never shows in control panel. Waiting several minutes and WiFi never connects. My phone is a 7+ and router is the latest AirPort Extreme. Many other devices connect just fine. Any help would be appreciated, and I apologize in advance if I have missed something.

This doesn't really help to resolve your issue - my watch has no problem connecting to wifi (with the Wifi icon in control center) when I set my phone to Airplane mode.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried Airplane mode as well on the phone. I also reset networking on the phone, that did not help either.
