Ok, so my school has a free wifi network. I found out after about a month that the wifi network only works for the school sites. Is there a way to get around that?

Do you mean you can only reach web sites that are in the school's domain? If so, probably no way around it. You can try going to an external website using ip address instead of domain name (e.g.: http://74.125.19.103 instead of http://www.google.com) and see if all they are doing is preventing the DNS server from translating external addresses.

I will most certainly try that. However, how do i get these IP addresses for other specific sites?

Well, assuming the ip addresses work (which is no sure bet), you can go to the terminal (on a mac) or command line (start-run "cmd" on windows) and type:

ping www.google.com (for example)
