Bang - all of a sudden Apple would be competing in the console market too.

And what evidence do I have to support this speculation? Absolutely none! :D

It would be cool though right?

Apple is already competing in the gaming market and is quite successful given the level of effort they have actually put into it (none other than enabling developers to make games for iOS and GameCenter).

True.

But what is the #1 selling game type (across all systems)? FPS. And is FPS fun on iPad? N:(

FPS's on iPad work ok, but just ok. I picked up Rage HD back when it was free and it is fun, but the controls are a little weird. I think a nice controller would be great- I saw that one thinkgeek.com is working on and it looks cool, but it's more of a SNES style. A PS style controller that was iPad friendly + airplay would be pretty sweet.

FPS sucks on iPad, but if there was a controller, it would be sweet.

I think the chances of Apple releasing their own Bluetooth controller are slim to none, but perhaps there will be a decent third party one.
