I've only had my iPhone for a couple of months, and I'm trying to find out if they all, to some extent, suffer from the problem where the signal strength is constantly changing. I'm not thrilled with the fact that I can be sitting still in an area where I usually get good signal and suddenly get no signal, or switched to edge.

If you look at the bar strength (or do the field test) the thing's all over the map, and constantly changes.

Defect or normal behavior? If it's a problem I'd like to get it switched out but I'm not going to waste my time if the next one will do it as well.

TIA, Jeff

I feel your pain Jeff. Sitting at my desk in my office where I mostly get full strength I'll occasionally drop anywhere else on the spectrum all the way down to one bar on Edge. Usually if I put my phone in Airplane mode for a second and then take it out my signal goes back up. Try that. Cheers - Eric
