Been using the 2015 12 inch macbook retina since 2015. recently the display broke. so will buy an used macbook pro 13 inch 2015 model with dual core i5 2.7 ghz and 8gb ram. i will be using this for at least next 3 years. I dont do any heavy works. mostly a lot of browsing, email, youtube and netflix. Will this be good enough for next 3 years or it will lag/slow down?

Depends on what you’re doing with it in 3 years. But, for the average use case, I would imagine that by 2023 a 2015 MBP will feel a little laggy, yes.

I have the 13-inch 2015 macbook pro with the same configuration hooked up to an external 4K monitor. The animations are not buttery smooth as it used to be, but it is fine for casual browsing and email. Videos are fine if you stick with 1440p quality or lower. 4K content on YouTube is fine alone, but if you do anything else it will start to lag. Some videos on YouTube are uploaded at 60fps, so the highest quality you can watch without choppiness is 1080p60.

My 2 cents: It'll be fine for a casual user for the next 3 years at least on Mojave. I can't speak for Catalina, but I don't think I will upgrade macOS any further at this point. Get it if it's cheap or if money is tight, otherwise try and find a newer model that you can get used.

If you don't upgrade macOS from the version it runs now, the core system will be the same speed indefinitely. If the applications you need to run increase their system requirements in future releases, they will naturally be slower.

Nobody here has a crystal ball and can guess your applications' needs in the future.

That MacBook Pro has better specs than my 2019 MacBook Air, and I edit videos and photos and it looks to be good for a few years. The MBP you're looking for should be fine with your workload for a few years.
