Will 2009 MBP HDD plug-n-play in new 2010 MBP?

I have a 2009 15" MBP with a 500GB HDD and I am buying a 2010 13" MBP on Tues. I'm giving the wife the 15" but I would like to swap the HDD rather than transfer all the data and bc the NEW 13" comes with a 250GB. Can I just drop the old HDD into the new computer and it work fine?

Yep, just swap the drives, and the computer won't know the difference.

It should work, if it has the same version of Mac OS X installed (10.6.4) as the new Mac, as Macs can't have a system installed that is an older version of what it came with (thus no Mac OS X 10.6.3 on a Mac, that came with 10.6.4). Just run Software Update after the swap to get the correct drivers and you should be good to go.

I am going to be doing this soon as well. Selling off an old MacBook for a new MBP. I can't imagine there would be any issues.

It should work without a hitch. I've done it before. Update software first.
