Apple will be announcing 10.16 next week. When they release a new OS sometimes older models aren’t supported. The last big group left behind was the late 2009-2011 models when Mojave was released. Catalina hasn’t been good and I’m hoping they give older models that run it at least one more update with an OS that is focused on performance.

MBPro mid 2012 was discontinued in October 2016. Maybe 2012 MBPros will survive just one more iteration of macOS. It's the only one still supported from 2012 all others are vintage.
