MP 7,1 Will 2x 256gb work as 1 in the 2019 Mac Pro?

The base 2019 Mac Pro comes with a single 256gb ssd.
The upgrade kit, like the 1tb one, comes with 2 drives that act as one.

is the same true of adding two 256gb ssds if one has a second one? Will the OS automatically put them in raid 0 when both installed?
