I am thinking about purchasing the baseline, quad-core iMac 21.5". I am planning on editing 20-minute films. I intend to use iMovie, but I would like to upgrade to FCPX eventually. (After I can save up)

Thanks!

If your video editing is light to moderate, the base iMac will do just fine. If you can get more ram like 16gig would be better.

I'd Imagine it would run FCPX pretty well. my late 2009 iMac with a lonely 9400M can run it well for the most part with just 256mb of shared RAM.
I'm sure with a card which is probably twice as powerful could handle it fine.

Thanks for all the feedback! This is my first query on MacRumors, and I am genuinely pleased with the diligent community.
