Right now, I need to be able to edit some HD camcorder footage into short films and webisodes. I am wanting to get into editing professionally. Eventually, I will want to be able to do a feature. Will a MBP handle this kind of usage? I need the portability, for myself, and I'm seeing that a lot of employers are requesting an editor to be able to bring their own machine to a site. But I don't want to get the wrong machine if a year from now I find I am unable to work on a feature.

I edit HD footage for an international news network every day on my MBP with no problems.

Edit: I should add that I handle short form and long form projects on both the internal drive and external FW800 drives using ProRes 422, XDCAM HD, HDV, and HDV AIC codecs.
