All I know about Airdrop right now is that you can share with other people next to you with iphones. But if I am using my Mac (which has Airdrop) with my phone next to me would I be able to transfer something from my Mac to my phone?

Right now it doesn't work with 10.9.
I don't believe Apple has been very clear about this, but I think (and hope) it will be there before release. It wouldn't really make sense without it.
