I'm interested in getting a monitor to run off my 16' Macbook Pro. I want to use the Macbook closed (in "clamshell") mode, and then use the external monitor as my only display. Online I have seen regular monitors and ultrawide and ultrawide is tempting. As I understand this generation of Macbook pro can run a little hot when connected to an external monitor. I'm wondering if a larger monitor will make this any worse?

Thanks!

If there's "scaling" involved or much load upon the internal GPU, then yes...
- it could run hotter
- the fans may speed up and be noisier.

What monitor are you interested in?
