I'm buying an unlocked Pantech and switching it with a Razr.

Getting the unlimited data plan.

Then upgrading to the iPhone 4G.

Will I have unlimited on my 4G then?

There are about 5 posts below yours discussing this. One has an almost identical title to yours.

Probably not, it will have to be an unlimited iphone data plan in order for you to stay on it.
There wont be an unlimited iphone plan any more when you decide to switch and update to the 4th gen and you cant use non iphone plans with an iphone account.

Att said you CAN keep the same plan even if you upgrade.

iPhone has it's own data plan

Att said you CAN keep the same plan even if you upgrade.

But the iPhone has it's own dedicated Data Plan. That is what you would have to have prior to June 7th. You won't be able to sign up for this with the Pantech, just the generic smartphone data plan. Therefore, once you get the new iPhone, you will be required to sign up for an iPhone specific data plan and the unlimited option will be gone.

I believe this is how it will work, but I could be wrong.
