Will an unlocked UK 3g iPhone work with a T-mobile sim in the US?

Just wondering - a friend in the UK is selling her unlocked iphone 3G and I was wondering if it would work with a T-mobile sim card here in US?

Does anyone know if the iphone 3G supports the US PCS and AWS frequency bands used by T-mobile?

As I recall, they are identical to the ones sold in the us except, of course, the unlock.

So you would not have MMS, Visual Voicemail, or 3G speeds (you would have EDGE only).
