Hi - hope this is the right heading for my question.

I have an old PowerBook G4 1.5GHz with 80 GB hard drive that is getting full (I have 25GB free after some housekeeping).

I know I can buy an external Firewire HDD, and I have one already for Time Machine.

I am keen on replacing my HDD with something bigger. Will any 2.5" ide fit or does it have to be of a specific make/dimensions etc?

Also, is there a maximum that these laptops can support? I can get a 160GB for under £50 or a 250GB for under £75.

and no, I do not have any qualms opening up the laptop.

Thank you in advance.

any 2.5" ide will work.

Thickness

I'm not 100% positive, but if you want to be cautious, go with a drive that is 9.5mm thick as opposed to 12mm thick... I seem to recall that only the thinner drives fit, but that may not apply to the titanium models (I had one myself, I just can't be certain that this was required for it). Otherwise, you're good to go!
