I'm hoping to purchase a new iPhone and trade in my current one. My current device works perfectly, but has a new (premium) screen and battery from a third party. Will Apple clock this and reject the trade-in, or should it not matter?

Was it an Apple "approved" repair center such as Best Buy or a guy you found on Facebook? I'd contact Apple directly and ask them.

I did the repair myself. I'm fairly experienced in repairs and I did it "right," but I'm not certified by any means.

I get what you're saying, but it comes down to Apple's discretion, especially when/if non Apple components are used. You really need to contact them to see what their policy is.

Doubt it.

It’ll be a headache with having to send it back, paying for shipping there and back, etc most likely.

Never hurts to try. If you go to the store, the worst thing that could happen is that they’ll decline your phone

Apple covers iPhones with third party displays and battery under warranty (if something else is the problem).

So I’d say give it a try.

i just traded in an iPhone. they looked it over fairly carefully by eye and then ran some tests. not sure if there is a specific protocol or not.

There's literally a Macrumors article on why Apple has to junk iPhones with fake/counterfeit parts from "repair shop" criminals during the recycling process because it's actual trash they're putting in

They do? Is that a written statement somewhere on their site? I was fairly certain their warranty excludes third party repairs and random spare parts from the street.

Could you link to it please?

The software Apple uses to test your phone can detect 3rd party screens and batteries. Whether or not that disqualify's a trade in I don't know. I do know trading it in at BestBuy, Verizon or AT&T is no problem... Doesn't hurt to try though, worse they can do is say no.

I sure would give it a go. Let them run tests. If it's in real good shape will help.

I was told at the Apple store they would not take trade of the phone if it has non factory parts.
