I have a game I'm making right now that I expect will take about a year (or more?) to fully polish and finish, but I expect that I'll have a working demonstration within a month. I'm wondering, if I release the demonstration of the app for free and include a "Pre-Order Full Game" button that triggers an In-App purchase, including a message that makes it perfectly clear that the user will:

1.) Be charged now (for a price less than will be charged later.)
2.) Not receive anything now.
3.) Will be able to download the full game in the future at no additional cost.

Would Apple approve of it? I suspect #2 would violate Apple's terms of use for In-App Purchases, but I'm curious if anyone else knows whether Apple has traditionally approve of such promotions or not, or if anyone has any guidance or advice about it that they'd like to share.

How would you enable item 3?

Through an update. The update will include all the levels of the game. Those levels will be locked unless the player has already done the Pre-Order, or if they buy the game at full price after the update.
