Will Apple be able to transfer my landline?

Does anybody know if Apple will be able to transfer my home phone number to the iPhone? I kept entering my phone number when I tried to preorder , but had to do a in store reserve.

If Apple can not do it, can I take it to an AT&T store and have them change the phone number that Apple gives me?
