Apple will probably stay true to form and kill off the 11 Pro variants but they usually end up at third party retailers (along with Xr) as Apple continue to manufacture them at reduced profile points but away from Apple Stores. If you look at various big name retailers in the UK they sell a lot of brand new older model iPhones at reduced prices.
The iPhones that Apple sell directly will probably start with SE, go up to 11 (non Pro, at a reduced price), 12, and 12 Pro.
With the 12 coming in at a lower price there is a bit of a question mark over the viability of just chopping £100 off the retail price of an 11 like they did with the Xr.
In the UK the current Xr price point is £629 for a 64Gb unit (or £679 for a 128Gb unit).
The SE below it is £419 for a 64Gb unit. If the 11 (currently retailing at £729) drops that £100 to the Xr price point in September and is replaced by a 12 which is a bit smaller than the 11 at £679 for 64Gb it's going to make a reduced cost 11 a bit of a poor value purchase unless you really need it to have the extra screen real estate.
Of course, the 12 might be the only option if you must have 256Gb storage, if Apple reduce the capacity on the 11 to just a 64Gb, or offer 128Gb at best.
Let's remember too that an SE Plus (slightly smaller screen than the 11 but presumably either A13 or even A14 CPU, in an 8 Plus shaped package) could come along and replace the 11 in March 2021 - so Apple might only have to have the 11 in the line up at a reduced cost for a few more months.
This would space out the line up better than it might look at Xmas this year - with a large gap between SE and re-priced 11 before the various 12 models take up the higher end.
The thought does occur though, that Apple could fit an 11 into that lower bracket if they did something exclusive to Apple Stores:
Sell an 11 without the charger.
They could do it with an exclusive colour (for the sake of argument silver or space grey) and reduce the price to start at £579 for 64Gb (I think this would be $549) having saved some money on shopping costs (smaller packaging, fit more into containers). By selling it from an Apple Store they can control the message about people recycling their old chargers without having to worry about third party retailers making a mess of it.
