One thing that's gone backwards since the iPad 3 is Apple HDMI adapter. Whilst the old 30-pin dock connector adapter was capable of outputting full 1080p, the Lightning one isn't and instead outputs a lower resolution version which is then upscaled.

Are Apple ever going to remedy this? I understand the reasons for it, as the Lightning port works in a totally different way from the dock connector but it seems very short-sighted of Apple to invent a new connector standard which can't even output genuine 1080p, let alone be capable of potentially higher resolutions in the future.
