I definitely get that! iOS has been getting more and more features though so honestly they may be coming soon but you’ll likely have to be a little patient for maybe another year or two :/I’m locked into the apple ecosystem. I need iOS to track my kids GPS location, we FaceTime with my parents who can’t/won’t use Skype, certain apps are only decent on iOS, etc. so, I’m stuck. But would love android features like TRUE automation features (not crappy apple limited shortcuts). Being able to use another browser not based on safari would also be nice. Sideloading apps, etc.
Absolutely. All I want them to do is essentially unlock their OS as a developer version. Make it difficult to get. Charge extra money. Make us sign waivers. Anything. Just make it available where we essentially can get a jailbroken version of iOS. At this point I may have to try keep android 14 in my pocket as a side phone to get actual work done.Apple could probably release an iOS Power User’s pack with ~100 new settings tweaks and charge a $2.99 monthly subscription and it would skyrocket their revenues as if they had launched a novel mass market electronic gadget.
Kind of like Microsoft’s PowerToys, but as a subscription of course.
Then every couple years raise it by 99c when one of the execs decided they needed to upgrade their super yacht. Sheer genius.
Only half kidding…
Probably not. And once you have your whole family on iOS devices it’s pretty much impossible to migrate to android, unless you plan to carry a second device (not really practical) Well done Apple!I would really love that, but I don't think it'll happen for a long time.
Yeah, it sucks. I'm hoping the recent antitrust laws will lead to more openness on the platform, but I hope a balance can be found. I know a lot of less tech-savvy people who might be exposed to security vulnerabilities if the platform becomes more open, and I'm not sure what the best way to balance everyone's needs would be.Probably not.
