In my estimation, Apple design teams are excellent and (after Newton) very careful about introducing revolutionary products. I believe I've located the next big Apple thing but want to be sure that I'm not hijacking anyone else's idea or that Apple may ACTUALLY have been working on this. So my disclaimer. This is the first statement that I've made on the subject and swear that I have done no research on the matter. If this is in the wrong thread, MOD please feel free to move it.

So the last Big Apple thing is really the iPhone 3G. As anticipated, it's a great platform for a convergent device. But is it possible that the next Big Apple 'thing' is just around the corner?
For about 8 years I've pondered the release of an Apple Branded hand-held, wireless, networked, sensor laden medical diagnostic device. The iPhone proves that it is possible to pack super-computer punch and intuitive, fluid functionality into a hand-held. So my question is this.
Will Apple be the logical company to release handheld medical diagnostic tools for the masses? Such tools already exist in the medical field but they're limited and not available to general consumers?

So in simple English.
We need a sensor laded (shall I call it iPhoneMed?) device that can take data samples as well as voice prompts, and formulate diagnoses and action plans for persons to use in regular self-help health care as well as in emergency reponse.

In a time when we already have a number of small personal medical devices such as Blood Pressure monitors, Glucose meters and we have advanced convergent products like the iPhone, it seems time that Apple launched the next Big product like that.
