the part of the cord is starting to tear, not the part with the power brick, the part that goes from the brick to the laptop, any chance theyll replace it free or do i have to buy a whole new power adapter? dell did it with my old laptop and that like 4 years after it was bought, so i assume apple would have a similar policy, no?

oddly enough, i had that *same* problem. i bought a new adaptor. applecare does not cover it, i checked. good news is, adaptors aren't expensive, so maybe scout out ebay. or get some good electrical tape.. :)
