Couldn't see this confirmed anywhere, if I preorder the Apple Watch in store from the 10th onwards, assuming they haven't sold out the launch day stock, will I be able to pick it up from the store itself on the 24th?

If so, I'm tempted to do this after I've preordered online in the 10th and the cancel my online order. I'd much rather pick it up and know I can get it early than have to wait around all day (have a coincidental day off work :p) staring out of the window.

So if there is no in-store pick up for preorders then we are in the hands of the couriers or its an overnight camp out. I presume that Apple stores will have stock on the 24th

According to chat on the website, no in-store pickups for in store reservations. Home deliveries for everyone

If they do it the same as the iphone release, then preorders will get u a spot for a launch day pick up or if you prefer launch day delivery.

I chatted with an apple specialist online yesterday and he said they have not been briefed on how preorders would be handled yet.

I spoke to an apple employee at The Trafford Centre in Manchester yesterday and he said that that I definitely couldn't preorder for instore pickup. #

I'm off there tomorrow so I'll ask and see if it's a consistent story :p

This article on 9to5mac mentions in store pickups will be available. http://9to5mac.com/2015/03/26/apple-watch-launch-availability/

I guess we'll only probably find out on the 10th when preorders start.

What are you reading!?! That article specifically says in store pickups will be unavailable .

Unlike with past iPhone and iPad launches, the Personal Pickup service that allows a person to order a device online and pick up at the store will be unavailable, but this may change in the future as inventory becomes more widely available.

Apple Press Release

I spoke to a genius at the Trafford Centre Apple Store in Manchester about this.
He told me that I would definitely be unable to place an online order for in-store pickup. #

I went to the same store today (Sunday) and spoke to 3 separate employees who all said reservations made in store from the 10th would be able to be collected in store on the 24th.

Now, I know Apple employees are the last ones to usually get told so not taking this as gospel. Guess we'll only find out for certain on the 10th.

If that past is an indication, the answer is no. Online orders/preorders will be only for home delivery. I would love to be wrong, but I don't think apple really wants to have stock for walk-ins, plus stock for people picking up orders.

That is just too much to deal with. imagine having to hold thousands of orders for customer pick up.

You mean like they did with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus? :p

As much as I want them to, I can't see the, offering this for online orders but the fact that you'll be able to reserve in store which, as far as I know, they haven't done for any other product launch before, makes me think they might do for those reservations placed in store in that period between 10th and 24th dependant on stock.

Wait i'm confused a little

Didn't Apple make a fuss about personalizing the buying experience?

Seems to me that this would also include picking it up. Otherwise, it seems a little one sided.

Are you sure the 6 and 6+ had online preorders for in store pick up?

They probably stopped in-store reservations because of the scalpers that haunt Apple product launches these days.

Positive unless I imagined the whole experience :D

Exactly! Although that might be why they might only offer it for those who come into store to reserve it as, and I'm generalising, these are likely to be the less tech savvy people who might need a run through of the key functions etc. us geeks, will be ordering the minute online preorders go live on the 10th.
