Ever since CES, I have been wondering, would Apple drop Intel for an Nvidia ARM APU? Apple already uses ARM in the iPads, iPhones, and iPods
why not add an ARM to a laptop or desktop offering?
I would think there is a definite possibility.
Apple does own engineering talent specializing in ARM and started out using RISC instructions over x86 CISC instructions. This shows a certain love towards ARM, however, there would be obvious code issues - OSX would need to rewritten, again (PowerPC - Intel), to run on ARM. The disadvantage is that all current apps would not work and the huge installed user base would be angry. I think a possible way around this issue would be a rather long (5 year) transition phase between Mac OS X and a new Mac OS (Mac OS XI?) that converges much, much more with iOS could solve the general problem, or, both platforms could coexist?
What do you all think?
