Ive bought recently a M1 Mac mini and MacBook using NTFS and 3rd Party drivers I had folders straight away that couldn’t be seen in Mac OS but they were all there in Windows/Linux/Chrome OS, its not the drive because its the same with multiple drives.

So I tried ExFat on one drive and thought I had solved it but now the same problem developed after a few weeks. Perhaps the drive been disconnected improperly a couple of times (power issue now solved) has caused the problem either way Apples support for Microsofts file systems seems dreadful as the folders can be seen fine on other platforms.

What I’m thinking of is I can transfer files via the cloud on the odd occasion to other platforms and Im prepared to fully switch over all my TB’s of data and multiple drives to APFS or HFS+ as long as this issue is solved and Apples actual file systems are robust as I"I only be using the drives on these M1 devices. Been able to see your data and trust its all there is pretty key, its even got me questioning should I be switching to Apple because I’m now going to have to manually check through thousands of folders with my backups and see if anything has gone that I wanted.

I was thinking of transferring all the drives to windows then formatting the drives in Mac OS, then using Paragon driver in Windows to transfer to Apples File System, this is going to be quite a process and I just wanted to make sure I’m doing the right thing.
