Carrier Will AT&T Give Me a Different SIM?

I'm going to Europe next month and plan to buy an inexpensive dual SIM GSM phone to use there. My iPhone 5S uses a nano SIM and the dual SIM phones use mini SIMs. Can I get a mini SIM with my number from AT&T to use in one of the slots of the dual SIM phone alongside the SIM I'll use for European calls/text/data?.

Get your Sim swapped out at the AT&T store.

they hand them out like candy. no cost.

They will probably give you one, or you can buy a nano to mini sim converter tray. That's what I use when I swap my sim out between my SIII and iPad.

Remember that when you activate the mini-SIM it will immediately deactivate your nano-SIM. When you want to use the iPhone 5S later, you will have to go back and get another nano-SIM. Your best bet is to get one of those SIM converter trays.
